Atlanta Council - St. Vincent de Paul Society The Atlanta Council has operated in North and Middle Georgia since 1903 and is presently comprised of 67 local Conferences (including the St. Monica's Conference), 9 Thrift stores, 33 Food Pantries and the Conference Support Center in Chamblee, Georgia. The Society’s commitment to aiding the poor is demonstrated in its stewardship of 94% of the money going directly to client services. In 2007, 135,000 people were served throughout North Georgia. |

Catholic Charities USA was founded in 1910 on the campus of Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, as the National Conference of Catholic Charities. The National Conference was created to promote the creation of diocesan Catholic Charities bureaus, to encourage professional social work practice, “to bring a sense of solidarity” among those in charitable ministries, and to be the “attorney for the poor." Catholic Charities USA celebrates its centennial in 2010. |

The vibrant parish of Saint Monica was established on May 24, 1994 as a tiny mission extension of the Church of St. Benedict then later celebrating the dedication Mass in their newly constructed Church in February 19, 2000. The parish has grown to a population of over 2,400 families to become the largest Christian denomination in the Duluth-Suwanee area. It is mainly through the parish's generosity that the St. Monica Conference of St. Vincent de Paul is able to help so many in the community. . |
